Mark McMillan is a licensed master social worker (LMSW), and certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor (CAADC), specializing in recovery issues and diverse populations. He obtained his Master's degree from the advanced MSW program at Wayne State University with a concentration in substance abuse and addiction. He is a trained facilitator for a variety of sensitivity trainings and workshops, and has experience working with inclusion and micro-aggression issues from an LGBTQA+ perspective.
Being in recovery himself from alcohol for over 14 years has given him a unique perspective on the challenges facing an LGBTQ+ individual seeking addiction treatment. In addition to substance abuse counseling, Mark also is an experienced therapist with depression, anxiety, couples’ counseling, out-of-control alcohol and drug use, out-of-control sexual behavior and other mental health issues. He recently was accepted to serve on the board of directors of the National Association of LGBTQIA+ Addiction Professionals (NALGAP).
My husband and I, basically, just shared a house together as roommates with little to no communication. Counseling at CRSH enabled us to reconnect with each other. We both are much happier.
I felt so alone, even in a room full of people. My therapist at CRSH helped me to understand my feelings, how to overcome the sadness and live a more fulfilled life.
Physical intimacy and desire seemed to be gone from the relationship with my partner. We were embarrassed to talk about this with anyone until we found our therapist at CRSH. What a difference this has made in our lives and relationship.
I have learned how to communicate in a healthier manner in my personal and professional life. The change in me and my relationship with others is profound.
Our marriage, our lives, our happiness have been positively impacted by the counseling we received at CRSH.
